Redpanda acquires Oxla — Agentic Data Plane with embedded SQL query engine on streaming data
tool
HIGH
Redpanda acquired Oxla (distributed SQL engine, $11M raised) and launched the Agentic Data Plane (ADP). Oxla adds standard SQL querying over both streaming and at-rest data, turning Redpanda from a pure streaming engine into a unified decision fabric. ADP targets enterprise AI agent governance — agents can query real-time event streams with familiar SQL without separate ETL to a warehouse. The ADP is available on Redpanda Cloud and BYOC; federated SQL querying enters beta later in 2026. Redpanda v25.3.11 also fixed a libxml2 CVE (CVE-2026-0990) in this release cycle.

ODS Impact
Directly relevant to ODS Zero-ETL architecture. The current ODS stack is Redpanda → Debezium → ClickHouse, which requires a separate OLAP layer. Redpanda ADP could simplify the pipeline by enabling SQL queries directly on Redpanda topics, reducing ClickHouse dependency for some use cases. Monitor the federated SQL beta for potential replacement of the Debezium + ClickHouse layer in non-OLAP scenarios. Also note the libxml2 CVE fix — update Redpanda deployment.
